making a movie

recently i got the chance to read some interesting stuff .i figured out the general workflow of a movie/ short. here is what i found .

1. get a friggin story and decide on a cast
2. story board it and break it up into segments [ acts > scenes > cuts ]
3. break each of those based on several dependencies like costumes, actors etc...
4. generate a schedule from that.
5. shoot and organize all the cuts.
6. edit them into place and post process

i could easily envision a huge market for making this process smooth with the right tools for the right roles.. googled and already found some.. but still i see an opportunity here. develop the right stuff and "mint a million" (C) .

on another note ..
Also i spent some time watching inane gult/ tam stuff on teluguone.com.

so here are the variants to the above process..
A . if its an animation film, the process of story boarding is more important and "shooting" is different
B . if its a general run of the mill tamil flick,
1. first get some foul jokes from jokes.com or wherever, then assemble all the "comedians" and shoot away 30% of the film on them. its like vegitable stock. you can use it in a different project if this one bails.

2. go find a hero/heroine and design a "story" around them.. if you find that to be difficult go visit the usaul source, and get yours customized to the specific hero/heroine.

3. make sure the stock is loud and you have audio loops running when ever the hero is on teh screen, so that his pathetic dialogue delivery is not noticed by the audience;

4. dust that stock songs album and arbit ly pick a few and toss into this movie.

5. give out awesome press releases featuring really good artists and directors etc..

6. alternative to 4. ask deva to direct the music and he will take care of it for you.

C. if you want to make a run of the mill telugu film.
a) if its an art film , rig it from teh mallus, they did the hard work for you.
b) if its a good movie, some good tamil director already made it for you, just buy the rights and dub it.
c) if its a "mass" movie, againt eh tamils did all teh hard work for you, just dub it in .. or to proclaim originality, remake it
d) if its a comedy film trying to look like an action flick, go to bangalore
e) if its an "image" film.. do all the hard work the tamils have to do

f) if its actaully , really an original good movie , hang out at teh best theaters, pick up the gossip and scripts from the playwrights , pay them peanuts, and hire real talent.

there you have it, in a nutshell.. details at 11.
cheers
ram
